Use the Blorce

Despite the fact that I’ve been blogging away here at in medias res since last November, I still feel like a newbie in the blogosphere. Case in point: I didn’t realize what “blogger awards” were for or what to do with them. I was like Luke Skywalker in the muck and mire of Dagobah without Yoda to whisper sweet nothings into my ear. The blorce (blogger + force = ridiculous hybrid word) was not strong in this one...

But after some careful research, I realized these awards are part of an intricate “pay it forward” system where you get to share the love you’ve received from your fellow bloggers.

So, my “Going Places Award” goes to Cort Ellyn, Jennifer Hillier, Stephen V. Ramey, and Simon Kewin.

My “Versatile Blogger Award” goes to Mesmerix, Marty, and C.K. Wagner.

My two girly awards go to everyone on my blogroll: “From Me to You,” you each have “One Lovely Blog.” That’s why I follow you so closely!

And last, but not least, is the “Bold Faced Liar/Writer Award” I recently received from Cort Ellyn. Here are a few truths and lies about myself. You get to decide which are which:

1. At 16, I shook hands with President Bush.

2. I have climbed the Great Wall of China.

3. I have been a vegetarian most of my life.

4. In 2005, I enjoyed the Eiffel Tower much more than the London Eye.

5. I like to mountain bike and surf – but not at the same time.

6. I have never had anything published prior to this year.
