I have nothing against Amazon. Seriously. Thanks to their KDP program, I've managed to make a few bucks selling reprints. That's right: stories I've sold elsewhere that were published elsewhere. Once the rights revert to me, I either sell them on Amazon as singles or in collections.
But KDP Select can be a little tricky. If you're in, you're bound to Amazon for 90 days. Can't sell your title anywhere else during that time. The benefit: your title is included in Amazon's lending program + the Kindle Unlimited program. Anytime readers borrow your title, you make a couple bucks. But again, you can only sell your title on Amazon. No place else.
My KDP Select term for Girl of Great Price just expired, so I'm breaking its chain and setting this Charlie Madison detective story free. Instead of only being available from Amazon, it's now available wherever eBooks are sold:
Here's what readers are saying about this future noir tale:
"This is an excellent novella for anyone who likes their SF dystopian or their P.I.'s wisecracking."
"Speculative, dystopian, SciFi mixed with a noir tone and a sarcastic hero with a heart of gold."
"Genre-blending fans should find a fun, fast read here that'll whet the appetite for more."
"It's not often I find a captivating series in such a unique genre as this."
