Way Out West

The latest anthology from the indomitable Bill Olver (Big Pulp Magazine) is now available everywhere books are sold, and it includes my Coyote Cal weird western "The Showgirl and the Wendigo."

Get a load of that cover art! Whoa Nelly, I sure am liking it, and I can't wait to read these tales of weirdness in the Old West. Just one perk of writing in a genre you enjoy: the contributor's copy!

As many of you know, I've been telling tales about Coyote Cal and Big Yap ever since I was a kid. I revamped them a few years ago, adding shape-shifters, werewolves, zombies, even a chupacabra, and while the settings may have changed, our heroes haven't. They've been riding with me for over twenty years now, and I see no reason for us to part company.

"The Showgirl and the Wendigo" is the last of my Coyote Cal stories to find a home. Nine are now published, greeting the world in a variety of anthologies and online magazines. Will I write any more? Heck yeah, but they probably won't be short. I'd like to see if I have a novella or few in me, maybe even a novel. And if the popularity of Way Out West is any indication, the weird western is definitely here to stay.
