By the Numbers
It's time to climb out of the trenches and take a look back at what I've managed to accomplish this year. I have a feeling 2013 is going to be a good one, but for now, it's all about 2012. What have I been up to?
Well, I wrote 12 new short stories and submitted them along with 52 others a total of 242 times; 35 of them were accepted for publication, and 32 have already been published this year. If it wasn't for Write1Sub1, these stories probably wouldn't exist (at least not yet). W1S1 has a way of forcing me to get my work out into the world where it belongs.
Three sales I'm particularly stoked on: I broke into Shimmer with "Soulless in His Sight", Cosmos with "Minutemen", and AE Science Fiction with "Roadkill Joe". These stories represent some of my best work, and it's been great to see them find such great places to call home.
On the Amazon front, I started making reprints of my previously published work available for Kindle readers, and I managed to sell 582 copies of my 20 titles, the bestseller being "Fool's Gold - A Coyote Cal Weird Western" with 143 copies sold. The KDP Select program has made it possible to share my stories with a whole new audience, and the free promotions have been a great way to get my tales out to thousands of readers who would have never read them otherwise.
Earlier this year, I finished the first draft of my novel Progeny and wrote, revised, and edited Captain Bartholomew Quasar and the Space-Time Displacement Conundrum. Over the summer, I revised/edited Westward, Tally Ho! and queried it with a dozen agents or so. No takers yet, but Every Day Novels currently has Captain Quasar, and I hope to hear back from them soon.
