Plans

Do you make New Year's Resolutions? I'm a goal-setter, but I balk at climbing aboard a bandwagon, so usually if something is popular, I run screaming in the opposite direction. (Hyperbole? Nay!)

But I do have a few things I hope to accomplish this year, so what better way to hold myself accountable than to broadcast them right here, right now?

First off, I'll be participating in my third year of the Write1Sub1 challenge, and you can keep track of my progress. One of my long-term goals is to have 100 short stories published before I turn 40, so with 93 stories written thus far, I'll be writing at least 7 more this year.

I also want to write more novellas, and I have general outlines ready for three. I'm 9,000 words into Captain Quasar and the Bounty Hunters (working title) and hope to have it polished up and ready to go by the end of the month. Two markets I'm keeping an eye on: Alchemy Novellas and JukePop Serials. Also, Musa Publishing, since they bought the rights to Immaterial Evidence and will have first shot at the next Charlie Madison novella I write.

On the novel front, this year's going to be all about revisions and queries. I need to come up with some way to keep myself motivated where querying agents is concerned. Ten queries a week might do it; that way, I'll feel some sense of accomplishment. I  have six novels currently in need of good homes, and I can't leave them on the back burner anymore. They deserve better.

How about you? What are your writing plans for 2013?
