Waiting

We do it a lot, don't we?

As writers, we pour our creative energy into every project, revise it until we can't stand to look at it anymore, polish it up, and send it out into the world on the submissions circuit.

Then we wait...

I have some really cool news I've been sitting on for the past couple months, but I can't share it until the editor gives the green light. It involves an anthology that will include one of my stories. That's all I can say for now. And I'm about ready to explode.

Three of my stories have been short-listed by zines I'd like to break into, but it could be weeks or months before I find out the final verdict. What do I do in the meantime? Refresh my inbox?

I keep writing. I'm still in the process of revising my Write1Sub1 novella from last month (Captain Quasar and the Bounty Hunters), and I'm about 15K into this month's story. It's a mess, but I'm sure it will turn out all right in the end. I've also been uploading some of my previously published stories to Smashwords so they can find their way to iBooks, Nook, Sony, and Kobo readers. I keep busy.

Then I check my inbox.
